DescriptionLikely cut and shaped from fragments of copper trade kettles, objects like this one are often referred to as "tinkling cones" or "tinklers." They were likely used to ornament the body in some fashion; tinklers are still found on Indigenous dance regalia (often referred to as "jingle dresses"). Objects of this general type speak directly to inter-cultural exchange between First Peoples and settler colonialists.
