This tripod bowl features an upper band of geometric incisions and three bird heads that hold up the bowls with their beaks.  A fourth bird head is modeled into the vessel's rim. The birds may be associated with the upper cosmos beseeching protection for those who used the bowl.  The vessel is made in the zoned biochrome style, wherein red and the natural buff or brown of the fired clay are the most common colours.
