DescriptionQueen Maya dreamed of being carried in her bed to the Himalayas by divine kings. She was bathed and anointed, and a white elephant entered her womb through her right flank. She gave birth ten months later to the future Buddha. This relief from Henan Province shows Queen Maya transported on clouds by the divine kings, and in her bed with the elephant. (The elephant is damaged, but the tusk is visible.)
