DescriptionA small silver pendant in the shape of the cross of In Gall. This is one of 21 known crosses produced by Tuareg silversmiths. It consists of a silver ring which holds a bright red triangular piece of agate in a silver encasement. The encasement is intricately incised with linear and geometric designs and two scroll-like shapes flank the encasement. The ring part is stamped and incised with circular shapes and geometric designs. Such a pendant could be used for a necklace or earrings. A single necklace is worn by women on a daily basis, while on ceremonial occasions they would wear multiple necklaces.
